시설농업은 네덜란드가 중심에 있다. 특히 유리온실과 첨단 정밀 농업의 본고장 이면서 치열한 기술 경쟁을 하는곳. 지금도 신축과 효율 높은 온실로 꾸준한 교체가 이뤄지고 있는 상황 우리 기준으로 볼때 별 이상 없는 것을 효율 낮다고 철거해 다시 설치하는 것을 보면서. 

파프리카와 토마토 평균 가격이 우리네 보다 낮은 상황에서 높은 생산 비용을 

1. 에너지 비용이 상대적으로 낮다. LNG를 기반으로 열병합 발전 과정에서 발생하는 전기와 CO2를 활용 하고 있다. 

2. 노동자들으 인건비는 우리보다 높지만 (약 18만원/일) 자동화와 개별 관리 시스템에 의해 우리보다 효율이 높다. 작업량으로 계산한다면 오히려 저렴하다 할 수 있다. 

3. 사회적인 비용이 낮다. 한국의 경우 농가 스스로 버벅 거려야 하지만 이곳에서는 그냥 열심히 컨설팅이나 협동조합 등과 연계해 시행 착오를 줄이고 기술 교류가 활발해 생산성이 상향 평준화 되어 있다.
